Lavanta Coffee Indonesia Flores Komodo Arabica Green or Roasted Coffee

Indonesia Flores Komodo Direct Trade Arabica Coffee Indonesia was introduced to coffee by the Dutch in the mid-seventeenth century. It is home to the first commercial coffee plantations in the world. The first coffee production sold was in 1712 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Coffee production expanded well during these early days; however, in 1877, the coffee plantations were wiped out by a coffee root disease forcing the country to replant new coffee trees. Most new coffee plants came from Africa and were primarily Robusta Beans, because these were more root disease resistant. Today Indonesia is still a major producer of Robusta Beans. However 10 to 15% of the Coffees produced in Indonesia are Arabica beans. The best growing regions for the Arabica varieties are on the islands of Sumatra, Sulawesi, Java, Flores, and Bali. Indonesian Arabica beans are traditionally strong, complex flavored, with a syrupy quality and often a balanced acidity. Coming from one of the poorest Islands in Indonesia, this Flores Komodo can be considered among the best cupping Indonesian Coffees. Every coffee origin we purchase that is not already in GrainproTM bags are immediately put in GrainproTM bags and kept in dark climate controlled conditions to keep the green coffee as fresh as when purchased.Your coffee order is freshly roasted and shipped to you upon order.Grinding We always recommend buying coffee whole bean coffee to ensure the freshest taste. But if you do not have a grinder, here is a breakdown of the grind levels we offer:Coarse Coffee Grind: Use in a French Press or Percolator When brewing coffee in a French Press or Percolator, the coffee grounds are in contact with water for a relatively long period of time (2-4 minutes, depending on volume). Because of the longer brew cycle, a coarse coffee grind with larger granules is recommended.Medium Coffee Grind: Use in Regular Drip coffee machines or Flat-bottomed filter This coffee grind resembles sugar and is used primarily with vacuum and flat-bottom drip makers. It is the most versatile grind and suits most drip brewing methods. We recommend this grind for pour-overs with metal filters.Fine Coffee Grind: Use with drip and other filter brewing methods Not all drip coffee machines and filters are the same. Although a medium grind works with most drip coffee machines, it may be necessary to experiment with a grind that is a bit finer. A fine coffee grind will have a texture like cornmeal and is fine enough to hold and slow down the flow of water passing through the coffee as it sits in the paper filter. A fine grind can also be used with a Neapolitan flip-drip and most manual paper pour-overs.Espresso Coffee Grind: Use with espresso machines Grinding coffee for espresso is probably the most difficult to get right. The coffee grind needs to be fine enough to increase the pressure required to push the water through the filter and create a good crema. But if the grind is too fine, the ground coffee can block the coffee filter. Generally, espresso coffee grind resembles a mixture of powdered sugar and fine beach sand. Since each espresso machine is a bit different, you may have to experiment to get the coffee grind just right. Some of these grinds are subject to preference, which is why we recommend owning a grinder. Look to our blog page for ideas of what to use at home.Packaging and Shipping Roasted Coffee is packed in valved, food grade, Biotrē™ coffee bags to ensure freshness and superior quality. We use the Biotrē™ coffee bags because they are 60% (by weight) biodegradable, made from wood pulp, which is compostable. The other 40% of the bag is a polyethylene liner that has an additive, allowing the liner to break down within 5-10 years. (Biotrē™ 1.0: 60% compostable/60% renewable, not including the valve.) We do this because a standard plastic coffee bag can take up to one thousand years to decompose. So just remove the valve from the bag and compost.Domestic and most international shipments will ship via USPS or USPS Priority mail. How to Store your Coffee Roasted Coffee will last 2 weeks, before quality begin to degrade. We recommend only buying the amount of roasted coffee you can use in a 2-week period. A complex layering of fruit – strawberry guava, pomegranate, mango – plus plumeria-like flowers, sandalwood, roasted cacao nib in aroma and cup. Plump, juicy acidity; syrupy though lively mouthfeel. Mexican Chiapas SHG E/P Coffee Beans. Always the freshest Crops! Mexican Chiapas is a medium-bodied coffee with a crisp finish. Bright and sweet acidity with medium body, spice and fruit undertones with a hint of chocolate It has a slightly nutty flavor and is a wonderfully refreshing coffee...great for all roast profiles and a personal favorite of ours! General Description: Mexico’s diverse geography, from the soaring altitudes of the country’s four mountain ranges to the beautiful coastal regions along the Pacific, supports diverse farming practices and a broad variety of crops. Chiapas is the country’s southernmost state, home to the Sierra Madre de Chiapas Mountain range. To its west are the coffee growing regions of Oaxaca and Vera Cruz, but it is the beans of Guatemala’s Huehuetenango region, directly to the east, with which Chiapas coffee shares so much character. The continued development of a network of Fair Trade farmers’ cooperatives is helping local people slowly improve their quality of life. Country: Mexico Region: Chiapas Altitude: 1000-1500m Varietal: Bourbon, Caturra, Mundo Novo, Maragogype Process: Washed Flavor Profile: Slightly nutty & sweet, well-balanced with a smooth finish ; rich lingering finish in profile a great any time of day! Certification: shade grown, fairly traded Farmers consisting of indigenous Mayan peoples from the tribes of Tzotzil, Tzeltal, Mame, Chuj and Zoque were concerned about chemical inputs, soil erosion, fish and bird deaths, and the emigration of their young people seeking jobs. In addition, they wanted to improve quality and yield, and get affordable credit. So in 1992, they formed the FIECH, Coffee from the Indigenous Ecological Federation of Chiapas. The state of Chiapas is located in the Sierra Madre Mountains and receives the perfect combination of rainfall and sunshine to create this strictly high grown bean. This particular fairly traded, shade grown, and bird friendly coffee is served in finer restaurants throughout Mexico. In 1996, just 4 short years after forming, the Mexican government awarded the cooperative the National Ecological Prize for environmental stewardship. Roasting Notes: Medium body with mild acidity and balanced, with delicate fruit and spice overtones. A hard bean that takes a dark roast well. I would use this coffee in French or Italian roasts but also cups well in the City - Full City range. Chiapas, the tropical jungle that is the most southern eastern part of Mexico, borders with Guatemala. Chiapas is the coffee little brother of Guatemala's Hue Hue Tenango region, and this comes through in the cup. The Chiapias coffees are brighter, sweeter, with a definite clove spice to compliment the apricot fruit that is in the cup. If you would like your coffee ground simply include a message during check out. This coffee is produced in the state of Chiapas, mainly in the Soconusco region.
