Therefore, they are mountainous and have rich soil that is ideal for growing coffee. It is no wonder that some of the world’s most famous coffees are grown on the islands of the Malay Archipelago of Indonesia: Sumatra, Sulawesi, and Java. Approximately 15% of all the coffee grown in Indonesia is Arabica. Sumatra is the second largest islandof the Republic of Indonesia. Sumatra Mandheling coffee is grown on thelofty volcanic slopes of Mount Leuser near the port of Padang in the Balak region of west-central Sumatra. Coffee trees were originally brought to Indonesia in the early 19th century by the Dutch, who sought to break the world-wide Arabic monopoly on the cultivation of coffee. Within a few years, Indonesian coffee dominated the world’s coffee market. Yet by the end of the century disease completely destroyed the crop. Coffee trees were successfully replanted and quickly gained a large share of the world market until the plantations were ravaged again during World WarII. “Mandailing”, spelled here correctly, is technically an ethnic group in Indonesia, not a region, as is Batak. The unique method used in its production results in a very full body with a concentrated flavor, garnished with herbal nuances and a spicy finish. Giling Basah, the name of the traditional Sumatran process, involves hulling the parchment off of the bean at roughly 50% moisture content; for comparison, most other processes hull coffee at around 10-12% moisture. This unique Sumatran process results in a trademark flavor profile (low acidity and a richness that lingers on the back of the palate) and gives the green beans a signature dark color. Notes of chocolate are evident in the finish. We buy Grade 1 Sumatras as Double-Picked (DP) or Triple-Picked (TP), referring to the number of times the coffee is hand-picked for defects. This extra quality control results in a very consistent cup including only cherries at optimum ripeness. Cupping Notes are gathered by using the cupping method to get a general idea of what natural flavor notes a coffee contains. Flavor profile will vary between different brewing methods and roast profiles. For Best Results it might be necessary for the coffee to degas 24 - 48 Hours when it arrives at your location to release trapped gases from within the beans which is a result from the roasting process. As always if you Have any Questions or Concerns Feel free to Reach out to us.

CHEERS!! 5 Lbs Green Un-Roasted Costa Rica Don Claudio Coffee Beans Origin: Costa Rica Region: Brunca Farm: Don Claudio Process: Washed Grade: Strictly Hard Bean (SHB), Euro-Prep (EP) Altitude: 1,400 – 2,000 masl (Miles Above Sea Level) Cup Characteristics Sweet and Balanced, with a Creamy Body, Bright Acidity and Notes of Milk Chocolate and Citrus. Aroma: Intense and Full Body: Creamy Acidity: Bright INFORMATION This Don Claudio SHB EP coffee is from the Brunca region in southwest Costa Rica. The Brunca region is marked by mountainous terrain and volcanic soil. High altitudes provide the cool climates that are ideal for growing sweet and dense beans. The Don Claudio coffee is picked in the area of La Piedra De Rivas and for this particular coffee, the ripe cherries are picked during the central part of the harvest. The main varietals are Caturra and Red Catuai. Farmers selectively handpick cherries and deliver them to a nearby wet mill. The mill follows processing methods that are designed to carefully protect the environment. In Costa Rica, this typically means using centrifugal force to remove mucilage, in lieu of fermenting. This method helps reduce water use and limits the amount of excess nutrients in water run-off from the mill. Parchment is washed and sundried. The cherries are all processed by the Beficio Coopeagri. The Don Claudio coffee is processed in both washed and natural methods. Our Don Claudio is fully washed. Coopagri, Costa Rica’s largest farmer cooperative, was founded in 1962 to help increase production and market access for small- and medium-sized and boasts more than 10,000 members. Coopagri continues to focus on the well being of members and their farming communities. They spearhead projects that range from building medical offices where members can access medical care to growing an already extensive agronomy support and outreach program. The cooperative produces organic fertilizer that members can access to help them maintain organic and ecologically healthy farms. They also run a local café that showcases the coffees their members produce. Cupping Notes are gathered by using the cupping method to get a general idea of what natural flavor notes a coffee contains. Flavor profile will vary between different brewing methods and roast profiles. As always if you Have any Questions or Concerns Feel free to Reach out to us.

THANK YOU FOR BEING PATIENT DURING THESE HIGH SHIPPING VOLUME TIMES AND HAVE A GREAT HOLIDAY !!! CHEERS!! 5 Lbs of Fresh Green Un-Roasted Arabica PANAMA BOQUETE Green Coffee Beans PANAMA Cup Characteristics Brown Sugar, Tangerine, Butter Pecan, Earthy, with Undertones of Cinnamon Body: Balanced Acidity: Crisp INFORMATION Region: Boquete Growing Altitude: 1500-1700m Variety: Caturra, Typica Grade: SHB - Strictly Hard Bean DescriptionPanama Boquete - is an exotic bean that is growing in popularity in the coffee world. Many people won't buy certain brands if they don't come from the "best coffee countries". Brazil and Colombia have long been considered the top coffee bean producing countries, but Panama is quickly making a name for itself. This gorgeous country has some amazing coffee bean farms that are helping create premium coffees that are savored all around the world. Panama has a rich and diverse climate that provides fertile farmland for coffee beans. The elevation and the volcanic content of the soil help cultivate some of the finest beans. Panama's climate is ideal for this crop. It has a wonderful, moist tropical environment along with good cloud cover. Coffee beans thrive this way. Panama also boasts some of the best coffee bean farms in the world that still use old techniques for growing and harvesting them. Panama has long been undervalued for green coffee, but it has gained fame for having a wide variety of coffee to choose from. Tourists can enjoy visiting the gorgeous coffee plantations to see how the cherries are harvested for the beans as well as enjoy a coffee tasting at the end of the tour. Ranging from some of the more widely available blends to the rare, expensive Geisha bean, Panama is a coffee connoisseur's paradise. History of Coffee in Panama There are some indications that green coffee first arrived in Panama as early as 1742, but the first attempts at commercial cultivation didn’t occur until the 1780’s. Planting at low altitudes around the port city of Portobelo, these efforts failed. It would be another 100 years, when coffee was planted in the highlands around the Volcano “Baru,” before commercial cultivation of Panama coffee was successful; however, nearly all coffee grown in Panama was used for internal consumption and the country was better known for exporting tea. Panamanians drank more coffee than they grew and had to import coffee to meet demand until the 1940’s. Exports grew slowly over the years, peaking in 1996 at 181,000 bags. Although there have been a few spikes since then, exports have settled down around 50,000 bags for the last 10 years as producers shifted their focus from volume to quality. More than 50% of coffee production is still consumed domestically. Growing Coffee in Panama Panama coffee grows in the west, near the border with Costa Rica in the highlands of Chiriqui, which means “Valley of the Moon.” Most coffee grows in two areas near the volcano Buru: Boquete and Volcan-Candela above 1,500 masl. Many coffee estates in Panama are 30-50 hectares and many coffee families are descendant of American and European immigrants, but there are indigenous farmers and farms as small as a few hectares. Most Panama coffee is washed and sun or machine dried. Panama grows Typica, Caturra, Catuai, Bourbon, San Ramon, Pache, Mundo Novo and, of course Geisha.
